As an independent consultant, Wil has advised the Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions (NBTC), the ANWB, various provinces, regions, cities, Chambers of Commerce, local and regional VVVs (Tourist Information Offices), theatres, sports companies, events organisers and numerous private enterprises in the leisure domain. Internationally, Wil is active for the National Council of Tourism and Resorts in the Ukraine and for some incoming tour operators, including Funky Tours (Crimea) and Akagera Tours and Travel (Rwanda).

Because of his political experience, Wil is regularly asked to manage projects which benefit both public and private interests. Wil studied at NIMA (Netherlands Institute of Marketing) and NIBE (Netherlands Institute for Banking, Insurance and Investment), and also obtained Ph.D.s in Leisure Studies in Tilburg and in City Marketing in Nijmegen.
